Rugby club Lokomotiva was founded in 1968 as part of the sports association Lokomotiva. The roots reach back to 1960 and the foundation of rugby club „Krešo Rakić“ and the four year later founding of High school club „Građevinar“. „Građevinar“ played the cup final in 1968. Soon after, the club was faced with imminent closure. Zivko Skrozo, a rugby fan and enthusiast, preserved the work that had been done in „Građevinar“ by founding another club within a bigger and stronger organization. The club received full recognition almost two years later. During the following years rugby club Lokomotiva had many ups and downs but has always tried to preserve the rugby tradition started in the 1960s. The clubs corner stones have always been its people and the community it had brought together. In the year 2000. the club faced a crisis, 43 players, almost all raised and trained by Lokomotiva, transferred, together with the coach, to a different club after a dispute with the Lokomotiva football club with whom we shared the pitch. (Inadequate training conditions) But the club persevered. Focusing on the younger selections, the management and the new coach Zdravko Mijić, made long term plans and the results are seen today. The club went from 5-6 kids, to over 60 players under the age of 18.
