Ljekarna Jadran, the largest and oldest institution in pharmacy in Primorsko-goranska county founded by the County with the mission of continuing a centuries-old pharmacy tradition in our area. Ensuring equal access to adequate pharmacy services to all citizens is the primary goal of the foundation and long-standing activity of the Ljekarna Jadran. The provision of pharmacy services to the preservation and improvement of the community health it carries out, in accordance with the guidelines and standards required by Good Pharmacy Practice and the Code of Pharmacy Ethics and Deontology, taking into account the environmental and safety at work, represent the fundamental determinants of the business of the Institution. The availability of pharmacy care is provided both in the city of Rijeka as county headquarters and in rural areas by providing incentive measures for employment through cooperation with local self-government. The development of Ljekarna Jadran was initially aimed at improving the pharmacy network, increasing the number of pharmacy units, opening pharmacies in places where primary health care has already been done, but it is important to mention that during the years of action it felt the need for centralized galenical preparation. Guided by this idea, in 1982, the "Galenski laboratorij"​ was established, pharmacy working unit of Ljekarna Jadran, which later became independent and transformed into an international pharmaceutical company of exceptionally successful business, both in Croatia and abroad the border of our country-Jadran galenski laboratorij. Responsibility in the pharmacy profession and continuous investment in the expertise of personnel with the recognizable combination of tradition and new knowledge is what we especially value, encourage and secure. This is exactly how we strive to give a contribution to the society and community we live in, but also to the whole pharmacy profession.
